Our center is in Layos, a small and quiet town, 8 miles from the city of Toledo, 50 miles from Madrid. The Guajaraz reservoir, the Golf Club, horseback riding, and our sports facilities are the main players in the multi-activities program.
Children are grouped by age and gender and sleep eight to a room. Our counsellor per child ratio is one to four. Campers are grouped by age and may choose from a variety of activities including multiple sports, arts and crafts, nature and adventure. Campers rotate through six different activity periods throughout the day, including outings to the countryside. After dinner in the evenings, everyone enjoys planned activities and games.
We finish the program with our “Olympic Games” where we emphasize the importance of participation, perseverance and having fun.
Our Junior Camp program is designed for older campers who seek greater flexibility and responsibility. Guided by our team of counsellors and a head coordinator, participants are given the chance to create their own activity schedule based on their personal preferences. Our goal is to bring out the best in each camper by supporting them as they challenge themselves and develop both leadership and teamwork skills. The programs take place at Layos Camp Toledo during the last two weeks of July or the first two weeks of August.
This course is held with the cooperation of our Junior Camp for Spanish campers. In this way, we ensure total immersion of foreign campers in a Spanish-speaking environment.
JUNIORS & SPANISH
For those children who are 13 to 16 years old and wish to improve their Spanish language skills, we offer a unique opportunity to combine camp with study. In collaboration with the University of Castilla La Mancha, we offer an intensive course that consists of 30 hours of intensive study taught by teachers certified through the University. (Classes meet on location at Camp for 3 hours during morning activity periods, Monday to Friday). The classes consist of 3 hours a day, from Monday to Friday, at the Camp during morning activity periods. Having successfully completed the course, Juniors will receive a certificate from the University of Castilla La Mancha which will then make them eligible for entry into the residential University program that is offered to students aged 18 and over.
After morning activities or Spanish classes, the Juniors regroup and participate in all other camp activities and excursions together. This is a great way to practice what they have learned in the classroom with native speakers. Our experienced facilitators and counsellors will guide campers as they participate in special evening activities, talent shows and team building games that help Juniors to build confidence, improve problem solving skills and develop long-lasting friendships.
The leading role of sport in most of our programmes allows our philosophy to be geared towards sportsmanship and its values: solidarity, respect, challenges to overcome and teamwork. We strive to promote a love of nature and sports, without forgetting the creative side of life, encouraging students to become involved in theatre, music, art and cultural excursions.
Our camps are divided into three diferent age groups so that campers participate in sports, games and activities with peers of their same age.
In all our centres, we prepare the food with products of the highest quality. We design menus especially thought out for children, a healthy and balanced diet that will keep their batteries charged throughout the day. We also offer a variety of options for children with food intolerances, allergies, or special diets.
All of the camps are less than 5 minutes to a medical center, and 10 minutes to a hospital. A licensed lifeguard and a graduate in medicine are in charge of the infirmary and the daily care of the children.
In case of an accident, all of the children are covered by insurance. Children will be required to bring a photocopy of their Social Security Card or private insurance policy
We include incoming and outgoing transportation from Madrid to the camp for all our programmes. We meet the parents at a specific location and the children always travel with counsellors.
